Sundays are so looked forward to and the
one just went by was just as it should be. I wrote and completed my new blog post, unpacked
my camera (I mean the whole set with 3 detachable lenses), clicked some decent
images (I am happy with particularly two I clicked that day), caught up with
Insidious Chapter 3 (I’ve watched and liked chapter 1 and 2, which made it
imperative that I watched this as well), enjoyed an early dinner at Nando’s,
got back home by 7 and the best part, got a good parking space for our car too
(it’s more like a lottery pick to get a parking space in our apartment).
Insidious
Chapter 3 – Predictable, has everything you expect in a horror movie
Disclaimer
– Reading this review is not going to give you a sneak peek into the story;
such reviews have clearly spoiled many of my movie viewing experience and I
will not do the same :-)
My Rating – 3/5 and may be another ½ for
those shocks I got
My Review - Happenings at “the further”
world continues to sound nonsensical, but wherever the movie makers wanted the
audience to startle, I certainly did and thanks to the sound effects. There
were a few, no, I think quite many scenes where I had to literally squint so
that I would not let the movie maker have his peace of mind. I think, this
sequel has a lot more such scenes that you’ll look forward to in a horror
movie, compared to Insidious Chapter 1 and 2.
The familiar Elise Rainier, a little older,
is back in form and the new faces have also played their parts decently well.
As expected, it does bear a faint link from the past sequels, although not very
relevant to the movie. So, if you have missed part 1 and 2, I do not think it
should stop you from watching part 3. Effort has been made to create some
light/humorous moments, which I do not think has worked really well.
And as usual, the movie ends with a hint to
another sequel, probably Insidious Chapter 4.
So, it’s quite predictable, there is a
victim and a psychic, there is an evil entity that which has enslaved souls and
the rest is for you to guess or rather watch. :P Definitely a one-time watch and absolutely, in a theatre!
Nando’s, The PERi-PERi Wonder!
To be frank,
Nando’s wasn’t a name I was familiar with – in the parts of India I have been,
I do not remember spotting one. I wasn’t familiar with it to the extent, this
may sound out rightly stupid, I even thought it was a South Indian restaurant,
as in “nandoos’”. Thanks to my hubby, later I learned this was a chain of
restaurant, but neither of us knew what kind of food they served.
When it comes to trying out variety food in
new eateries, I am sure ours is a match made in heaven! :P However, we both have
this mental block – looking at the restaurant get up we sort of conclude
whether it is expensive or not. I know that’s a wrong thing to do, but we sort
of apply “all that glitters is gold” concept here. Once we form that notion, it
takes a while for us to break it and venture out. Similarly, we may have walked
past this one half a dozen times and never bothered dining in. But last Sunday we
decided to try it out and we’re so happy that we did! And it seems like, “we got
hooked to the PERi-PERi flame-grilled chicken!”
We are not too finicky
about the ambience part; as long as things are clean, we are good to go. But at
Nando’s, DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj, the ambiance was superb – spacious eating
area and an open terrace with umbrella canopies. You are assigned with a waiter
and he/she will assist you throughout your time at the restaurant. The place is
full mostly, but even amidst the chaos you’re offered complete privacy; more to
do with the people dining there rather than the place itself!
If you are a
first timer, you ought to take a second or even a third look at the menu; we
were certainly lost and found it hard to comprehend. But
again, Mr. J came to our rescue (the guy who was attending our table). With his
help I ordered a PERi PERi Chicken burger and he ordered a … mmh… I forgot!
When J was about to leave, my ever inquisitive husband saw an innovative thing being
brought to a table next to ours. He politely asked J what that was and then
cancelled his previous order and went ahead with skewered chicken. The way they
serve it is pretty amazing (will click a pic next time) and along with it we
ordered peri peri wedges as sides.
I’ve been
talking a lot about PERi-PERi and what is that? Nando’s is an African chain of restaurant
and this is a spicy sauce, which they serve in lemon and herbs, mild, hot and
super hot varieties. Emphasize your choice when placing the order.
Portion size is
perfect and for our dinner at Nando's we paid around Rs. 1050/- including taxes, which
is well within affordable range, if you are eating out.
This is the place to be for any
chicken lover and if you are one, their loyalty card is also worth it. It’s
like on your 3rd visit you get a ¼ chicken free, on your 6th
visit ½ chicken and on your 10th visit 1 full chicken, and yes,
obviously flame-grilled and marinated to perfection.
So looking forward to our 10th
visit and until then, we will remain loyal to Nando’s
(the African way).
