A Keventers Style Iced Coffee Before Summer’s Gone!

These days it seems like the sun fights hard to break through thick clouds. Wind is at its mighty best and clouds need no reason to burst into massive downpour any time. Well, this definitely signals that summer will soon be gone, or it has and I had to try some of these recipes that I’ve been collecting, before monsoon officially makes its entry.

So, first on the list is Iced Coffee! As I said, I've been collecting recipes, but ever since I tried Keventers iced coffee from a nearby mall, I wanted to give it a try in my own way.

I’ve been packing coffee for him on days when he can’t manage one at his office, mostly on Saturday’s. It’s normally the plain hot filter coffee, because he worries a lot about extra calories. However, since I wanted to make this, I told him he will get a super awesome iced coffee today (and he knows “super awesome” translates into “sinful”). Well, this is only as sinful as any milk coffee or may be tad lower!

When I was looking for recipes, I came across this method called “cold brewing”, which the westerners do. It sounded pretty much like the process of filtering decoction using a coffee filter. In my blog titled “His Quest For ThePerfect Cup Of Coffee Ends And Thanks to This Little Equipment! I’ve shown how to extract decoction. In cold brewing, the difference is that boiling water is directly mixed with ground coffee and then strained in layers of cheese cloth.

I so like this snap! :P

I also used the coffee ice cubes I spoke about in another blog titled “HowWould You Like Your Anniversary Coffee? Hot, Cold Or …However, in this I used black coffee cubes.

So, the preparation starts the previous day… so much for the super awesome iced coffee!

YOU NEED:

Black coffee, 1 cup (1/4 cup decoction mixed with ¾ cup ice cold water)

Coffee ice cubes, enough to cool the coffee (make black coffee the previous night and pour in ice trays and freeze)

Sweetened condensed milk, 2-3 tablespoons (depending on how strong the coffee is and as per your taste)

HOW TO:

When ready to serve, fill up a glass with coffee ice cubes (they looked so genuinely wonderful, I couldn't stop capturing these black beauties).

Pour coffee over this (the black coffee you made).

Now add two-three spoonful of condensed milk.

Stir or shake well and sip on! If you use a bottle like this, it's pretty easy to get the froth by giving it a nice shake)
